DiscoverHover is an international not-for-profit
program established by the World Hovercraft Organization
in 2003. Its primary mission is to give students
worldwide the educational opportunities that accompany
the building of a hovercraft and racing it in established
hovercraft races. Students or school teams can race
in Hovercraft Club events in their respective countries;
if your country lacks a Hovercraft Club, the DiscoverHover
site tells you how to start one.
The DiscoverHover program is an updated, expanded version
of earlier programs created by officers of the World
Hovercraft Organization. This improved program is specifically
designed to attract students to engineering, technology
and other academic areas, while providing schools with
an innovative teaching concept. The enormous satisfaction
that comes from the achievement of building and racing
a hovercraft has been proven to motivate both students
and instructors to even greater accomplishments. All information on the DiscoverHover web site is
made available, without charge, to students; to primary,
secondary and post-secondary schools; to youth organizations
and to individuals age 12 to 21 anywhere in the world.
Hovercraft blueprints and instructions are provided
by Universal Hovercraft, the world's largest supplier
of hovercraft plans, kits and parts. And an advisory
team comprised of some of the world's leading hovercraft
specialists stands ready to answer all your questions
and to help you every step of the way.
DiscoverHover also provides a highly popular interactive
hovercraft museum exhibit, including a working HoverChair
to give children the opportunity to pilot their own
hovercraft.
